UPDATE ON THE DEB KANGARU PRIMARY SCHOOL MoU

The University of Embu and DEB Kangaru primary school established an MoU in 2019 to work on areas of mutual interest. So far a lot of progress has been made especially with respect to initiating a face lift to the school and also establishing in a consultative discussions areas of mutual interest and mapping out the actors.
The following are the areas of mutual interest that were jointly agreed on.
Research lab and art room
The primary school has a hall that is shared with the secondary school. The hall is centrally placed and can be used with minimal interference to either of the schools’ programs. The University is renovating the hall to make it more suitable for meetings, teaching and research, as well as give the school a facelift. The hall will be a art center as well as a place to learn about the process of learning. This project is led by Dr Ciriaka and Sonia Watson from USA
Chaplaincy services to support pastoral lessons.
The school has a weekly pastoral lesson that members of the university can volunteer to partner teach. This project is lead by Rev. Dr. Mary Nkari
Farm renovations
The school has a large farm that can be turned into a profitable venture. This is likely to support nutritional needs as well supplement school income. This project is lead by Dr Rebecca Yegon
Mobilization of Alumni.
Alumni of any school provide a sound financial, moral and emotional bedrock for a school. They can motivate the school to achieve excellence by giving various types of support. The project to create an Alumni and mobilize people of good will is lead by Dr Zippy
Drama and Social Activities
The school is active in co curricula activities. Support that they need for drama and even for sports is available from the university in terms of skills and equipment. This program will be lead by  Dr Yegon and Sports division
